How to Rig and Fish a Nose Hooked Fluke for Bass Fishing

Why Nose Hook a Fluke?

When you nose hook a fluke it gives it a more erratic and darting action than it has with a 3/0 or 4/0 hook it it.

This fluke fishing technique can be deadly for bass fishing and trigger a reaction strike when they are in a negative mood, or pull them from long distances when they are actively feeding.

Advantages of Nose Hooked Fluke

The cool thing is that you can fish it on lighter gear with this nose hook because the hook penetrates so easily.

Another cool feature is that hook up ratios go way up when you fish this way vs the traditional Texas Rigged fluke.

Disadvantages of the Nose Hooked Fluke

Like I said in the video, you can use a weedless VMC Neko hook to be more weedless, but if you are fishing in heavy cover you will need to step up to a 3/0 of 4/0 EWG worm hook.

If not, you will get hung up a lot, making this tactic less productive.

Final Thoughts on this Fluke Fishing Technique for Bass

I have been using this method for over 20 years now and it still is not super utilized and works super well.

Cast it out and let it sink to depth and give it twitches and pops to make the bait come alive. It can bring some crazy reaction bites and make for some amazing days of fishing.

Get it close to the cover or cast past the cover and work the outside edges. This is such a fun way to fish the fluke style baits.

To your fishing success,
